The microphone was put close to the ears.
Statistical investigations have proven that from a poplulation of people exposed to an equivalent level (Leq) of 85 dB (A) will 10% suffer from hearing loss after 10 yeasrs of exposure. The acceptable exposer time should be halved for every 3 dB increase of the Leq.
These are the justifications for the Osha levels.. the 4443 is built both for the american OSHA standard and the international ISO that is in use in Europe. (we used ISO ) The danish level sais 85 dB and if peak levels are found above 115 dB more than once a minute, 6 dB should be added to the level. .
